Old Hill Cemetery, Late Fall

Old Hill Cemetery, Late Fall

Regular price $0.00 Sale

When the sun came out today,  Sunday, 11/5 I knew I wanted to paint the side of the hill at Old Hill cemetery in Newburyport.  In late fall with the sun coming up in the east this quiet, sacred, place is drenched in warm sunlight and foliage of yellows and oranges and ochres without equal.

Halfway through the painting session I lost the sun but it didn’t matter. At one point I heard a voice saying “I like what you’re doing!“ I turned around hoping there was a person there. It was a nice young woman with a kind comment. Then she vanished. That was the last voice I heard. I finished up and rode my bike home. A beautiful experience and a beautiful cemetery. Cemeteries remind me of the impermanence of life and consequently the value of every day. Hope you get the feeling too. 15” x 22”, water color, Richard Burke Jones  Free Shipping
