A couple of Sundays ago I went to 9 o’clock Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church in Newburyport where I have attended Mass since I was a young boy. I was struck and moved by a mother holding her newborn under the stained glass window. In some ways, it’s spoke to me as a modern day Madonna and I thought I would try to capture the essence of that feeling in watercolor back in the studio.
She is strong and caring in all respects. I don't even know her name but maybe that doesn't matter. We were all there witnessing the mystery of the moment and hoping in the future. Here is to the mystery of life - both young and old!
