Richard Burke Jones studied art as an undergraduate student at The College of the Holy Cross and went on to earn a Masters through Tufts University and the Museum School. Following school he studied with Boston School master portraitist Robert Cormier and eventually was admitted to the Guild of Boston Artist. He maintained a studio for a number of years at 262 Newbury St, Boston.

Richard has painted a number of high profile portraits as well as historical paintings - most often a crow's nest view of 18th and 19th C towns. He has also painted pleinaire for many years in and about his hometown of Newburyport MA where he has lived since 1950. He is married with three daughters and has a studio in the back of his home.

His work is in many private collections as well as The Newport Museum and the Custom House Maritime Museum. He has had articles in many periodicals including the Cape Cod Magazine, the Merrimack Valley Magazine, the Portsmouth Herald and the Boston Globe.
