It was built in 1801 with the massive structural work being done with the help of local shipwrights and it supports one of the most beautiful wooden spires in New England.
To the right of the church is the Bartlett Mills located at the corner of Pleasant and Inn Streets. It was built in 1837 for the purpose of manufacturing cotton cloth however it was demolished in a spectacular blast in 1881. Further to the right is a view of what Inn Street use to look like - small shops of store fronts, carpenters, and tradesmen. Beyond Inn Street in the center of the painting is Market Square and the surrounding buildings. Many of these buildings still survive today.

Beyond this house is a view of Green Street and beyond to the original railroad bridge across the Merrimack River Going further toward the horizon line are the wharves and clipper ships docked for “fitting out”.
